Do these Traffic Policewomen carry any type of weapons? Also do they have arrest powers?

I've never seen a picture of a trafficgirl carrying a gun - and in those form-fitting uniforms, if she was carrying one you would be able to see it. Does a baton count as a weapon? Then yes they carry a weapon. And I've seen a few TGs who have hand-held radios.
I have read that they can issue citations and make arrests if needed.

Thank you for your reply. But is the baton one that is like a nightstick [billyclub] or simply a pointer for traffic control?

Hmmm..... I would guess that obviously it's primarily used for traffic direction, but if she was ever threatened or attacked she would probably have no reservation about clubbing someone with it.
Conclusion: Don't mess with the Traffic ladies!

Yep - now we can add one more thing to what they're taught in traffic cop school - self defense with the baton.

I did find some info on that from a flickr site- "The Patrolwoman wears white gloves for visibility of her hand signals, using a Police whistle to get a driver's attention to her orders and she carries a red and white Police baton used to point driver's and others in the correct direction; the Lady Police Officer will also use her Police baton self defense or to subdue a disobedient person if neccesary" Wink

BTY, I had to take a cold shower after perusing the pics on your site. thumbup

I'm sure most would not want to attack a PT Policewoman. Although, they probably are schooled in self defense, both hand to hand and barton usage, and arrest procedures should they need issue a summons and the motorist becomes irate. I agree it seems they are not armed with firearms or handcuffs but I'm sure there are many armed police and soldiers not far away. The DPRK has one of the world's largest armies, even though it is a small country.

Finally, I don't think anyone wants to wind up in one of Jong's jails or prisons. I suspect those facilities are not exactly up to western hotel standards and the guards are not pretty PTGs!

lol!

Boy these PTGs are tough! I would never mess w/ them. BTW - her baton [above] appears much longer than the ones the DRPK PTGs carry.
