This deserves it's own thread....

But Kim Jong Il in his younger days enjoyed an international reputation as a playboy, surrounding himself in his "Joy Brigade" with hand-picked young women who were given the job of keeping the heir to the North Korean leadership happy.

Kim Jong Il's unrestricted sexual behavior was highly contagious, and he surrounded himself with members of the Party elite, who also boasted about their drinking and womanizing, North Korean analysts and defectors ...

"The President said housing came first in the development of Pyongyang and proposed the introduction of the prefabricated construction method, a new technology in those days.

Thanks to the new method, the builders assembled a flat within 14 minutes, thus building 20 000 flats in a year. And this is how “Pyongyang speed” came into being.

(AFP) – Jul 23, 2009

North Korean women face hard labor if they are caught wearing trousers rather than skirts, under the communist regime's latest crackdown on public morals, South Korean activists said Friday.

Offenders can be punished with hours of forced labor or fines of 700 won, almost a week's salary for the average worker, human rights group Good Friends ...

11 Craziest Kim Jong-Il Moments (with links)

1. Kim plans to solve North Korea's famine by breeding giant rabbits. This is my all-time favorite Kim Jong-Il story. In 2006, Kim finds out that there's a guy in Germany who breeds giant rabbits. Seriously huge rabbits. Like, rabbits the size of dogs.

And Kim just becomes enamored of these, to the point where he decides that giant rabbits will be the solution to his country's widespread hunger problems.

Not Photoshopped. This is Szmolinsy ...
